Guide Me To Eternity – By Christine Tuttle Monsen – Book Review

It seems that I have been recommending this book a lot lately and I realized that I had never posted a review of the book. This is one of my favorite books. I read it each summer.
This is a true story of strength, love, devotion and living life during the loss of a loved one. It is a story of a husband and a wife whose love reaches beyond time and through the veil which separated life and death. Sometimes when we feel like life is just too much for us that we find that we have more strength than we ever knew we had.
Guide me to eternity is a true story of a young couple with five children and expecting a sixth. The husband is drowning in the freezing waters of Yuba Lake. The young mother was terrified. She told her her children to stay put as she began to swim towards her drowning husband. She kept hearing “Go Back” in her mind. She turned towards her children and they were trying to follow her into the freezing cold water.
She had to make a tough choice and that choice was to save her children. The rest of the story proves that there it a bond between those we love when they leave this earth and those who are left behind. This bond can give us comfort and peace.
I don’t want to tell anymore of the story as to ruin it for the reader. I cried so much during this book but it gave me a new understanding of death and life.

This book has a quote in it that I always try to remember. The quote is : “When times are the toughest, don’t get discouraged. God may be fixing to do something wonderful.” I have found that this quote as well as many more in this book gives me comfort to know that the veil between life and death is so thin. We are never really alone.
