AS A MALE RUNNER, I OFTEN HIT THE PAVEMENT WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT ABOUT MY SAFETY.

But I know this isn’t the reality for many women in our community. Every day, women face the harsh reality of feeling unsafe while doing something as simple as going for a run or walking home at night.

This issue became even more real to me when I heard stories from female friends who avoid running after dark or carry keys between their fingers just in case. It’s not right, and it’s not fair. No one should feel afraid in their own community.

So, I’m teaming up with the KYUP! Project to help change this narrative. This run is about more than distance—it’s about awareness and change. I’m running to raise funds for KYUP! Project an incredible organisation that empowers young people through workshops on self-defence, awareness, and personal safety.

I’ll see you at the finish line!

Every day, 1,300 reports of child abuse are made in Australia. 46,000 children cannot live with their parents due to neglect and abuse. Young women, especially aged 18 to 24, face the highest risk of violence, with girls as young as 10 also at risk. Your support is vital to changing these statistics and ensuring a safer future for Australia’s women and youth.

THE KYUP! PROJECT APPROACH

Evidence-Based Approach

Our workshops are backed by research and best practices in education, martial arts, policing, and psychology.

Experienced Facilitators

Our team consists of trained black belt professionals who deeply understand the challenges faced by school-aged students.

Trauma-Informed

Our trauma-informed workshops provide a safe and supportive environment for students to process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.

Real Results

Prior to our workshops, less than 50% of girls believed they were equal to boys. After our workshop, over 80% felt equal. Boys who participated also recognized the equality of girls.
